Maintain a long term healthy Diet
It’s time for a change. You’re unhappy with how you look and feel, again! ‘Why do you always get to this point? You make great progress but always end up back at the start. No matter the great progress you made over a couple of months, motivation dwindles, and you creep back to square one.
It is estimated that up to 80% of diets end in regaining weight, to the extent of up to 35% of the weight lost will be regained after 1 year.
Diets do not work.
The secret to effective change
Out with perfectly crafted short-term fixes, and in with creating your new way of life. A way of life that aligns with your current values, yet incrementally steers your habits toward your goals. This allows us to expand the timeframe of change and have a greater chance of success.
If eating healthier is the goal, aim this week to add at least one portion of fruit or vegetables alongside each meal. Although it may not be optimal from day one, it’s attainable and avoids excuses about not making progress. Next week make it two portions…. And so on.
When we set a longer time frame for our diet (way of life) it needs to be sustainable for 5 years! Then we have the space to not need perfection from day one.
Instead, start today and course-correct by 1% along the way. This micro habit adjustment will feel easy, that’s the point, because easy is sustainable and has longevity. 1% improvements compounded over 5 years would be a life-changing achievement for your health and fitness.
