Stretching

You’ve probably heard of a “runner’s high” — that ecstatic feeling people get after they go for a run…

And running can ALSO improve concentration and memory AND reduce mental decline.

This is pretty powerful stuff…

But non-runners, REJOICE:

According to new research you can actually enjoy the mental benefits of running... Simply by STRETCHING.

A year-long study split a group of participants into 2 groups:

The first group was instructed to do cardio and aerobic activities — like running or biking...

While the second lucked out — and all they had to do was stretch.

Now, most of us would expect the runners to score higher on the memory and mood scores at the end of the study...

But the study’s results were stunning:

BOTH groups saw nearly the same results in terms of memory and mood.

And while researchers are still looking into exactly how it's possible — it just goes to show:

You can stretch your way to a healthier mind.

So today, take a few minutes… And stretch!

Here are 3 great stretches to help get your blood flowing, clear your mind, and offer your body some much-needed relaxation.

(Before we get started, remember: Stretching should never hurt. Listen to your body and always do what feels good.)

  • Side Stretch slide a leg back and to the side then turn to same side looking over your shoulder. keep chest facing the floor for an awesome side stretch

  • Pidgeon Pose have one leg stretching behind. open up the knee under your body to reduce pressure. Fold forward if you can and breath deeply.

  • Shoulder Stretch on hands and knees slide one hand out to the side and dip your shoulder to the floor.opens chest and shoulders.

These 3 stretches are a great start… but when you're ready to try out a few MORE stretches — check out this video for some awesome stretches using a broom stick.

Try to do these stretches right after reading this article, and for at least one minute each, taking note of how you feel.

I personally like to stretch first thing in the morning and right before bed.. and I encourage you to, as well.

That way, you can start and end every day on the right track, with a more focused mind and body. :)

To a healthy, balanced life,
