Robyn’s Story ….

My story started 2 years ago, with a program run by the Get Physical team…

( The Kick Start program ) My goal was to give up Alcohol. I had my weigh in on the 6/10/18. The day I stopped drinking booze.

I realised quite quickly this was going to take a lot of willingness to stop. I threw myself into the classes and loved becoming friends with so many amazing people. All with stories. I never really let on to the extent of my drinking problem as I was filled with guilt and shame.

Two years later.  …. Hi my name is Robyn and I am a self diagnosed Alcoholic, I have been Sober for 786 days.

I have consistently been coming to the Gym over this time. This was my way of making myself accountable to my sobriety. The addiction to Alcohol is still there, so I look at life as one day at a time. Knowing that I will never drink alcohol again, which is ok. As their is no such thing as just one drink , for me anyway.  Life doesn’t suddenly become perfect but it becomes easier and easier without grog.  What I guess I am sharing is, if we feel off or not right- there’s always a reason or a root cause. And while we are drinking or drugging those feelings ( or compulsive eating or whatever your vice maybe ) we don’t FEEL them, and we cannot process them or grow , or find away out of ourselves. The opposition of addiction is connection. This Gym gives you connection.

I would like to thank the Get Physical Team. (Trainers and Gym Members), having just completed my third 6 week challenge.               New habits, that I will be taking on permanently🏋️‍♀️ I recommend to anyone that needs a bit of help changing their lifestyle, to do one of these challenges.

The Trainers at the Gym are a wealth of knowledge. All willing to share information and a shoulder if needed. I am so grateful for this. You made  me feel that I wasn’t alone.

YOU  have to put in the hard yards. YOU have to make a serious commitment. With this YOU will be rewarded.

There is nothing in my life now that could be improved by the addition of alcohol. I am not against Alcohol, it’s just not my friend anymore. l believe wholeheartedly that we all have an obligation to step up and question the normalisation of alcoholic drinking. Because for some of us it ends in alcoholism , and death. #OK2SAYNO. I would also like to acknowledge my boxing, gym buddy who has helped me push through the tuff times. 🥰🙏 who I would never have met,  if it wasn’t through a Get Physical challenge. Much love 💕 Robyn
